Assures all animals' nutrition, housing and basic medical needs are met on a daily basis.
Assists the public when admitting and adopting animals and promotes responsible pet ownership.
Other Requirements:
All employees must be able to provide their own transportation to and from work.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Availability to work a flexible work schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
Must be able to lift heavy weight in excess of 50 lbs.
Animal handling experience such as Vet Tech beneficial but not required.
Must be able to work with cleaning chemicals.
Daily environment is a very fast paced kennel setting with a multitude of noise and odors.
Multi-tasking and quick thinking skills are utilized daily.
Qualifications and Skills Good organizational skills; attention to detail; self-motivated; knowledge in animal health and well-being including nutrition needs, knowledge of common animal diseases, skills with animal first aid and CPR, ability to temperament test animals; ability to identify animal species, breeds, ages and sexes; ability to identify signs of animal illness and injuries; good communication skills - verbal and written; team player; ability to work with data base and maintain records; ability to work with computer; willingness to continue learning and research; ability to work well with broad spectrum of the community; good sense of humor.
